International Society of Nature and Forest Medicine
Outline and Regulations

Section 1: General Regulations

(Organization Title)

Article 1:
  • The Society's official title is the International Society of Nature and Forest Medicine.

(Organization Structure)

Article 2:
  1. The Society will be composed of members.
  2. The members will be divided into different categories according to regulations.

(Purpose)

Article 3:
  • The main objective of this organization will be to promote the global progress and development of natural and forest medicine through spreading awareness of the merits of forest medicine in terms of western, eastern and traditional medicine, by constructing a Society that will assist in the progress of medical care, and through the sharing of research data and techniques around the world that would contribute to its advancement.

Article 4:
  1. The Society will perform the following activities for the purpose of advancing the objectives outlined in Article 3:
    1. Setting up and updating the INFOM website
    2. Holding international scientific conventions
    3. Holding scientific conferences, lectures, symposia, and research seminars
    4. Publishing of scholarly magazines and books
    5. Offering specialized medical certification
    6. Running of relevant above-mentioned activities and related events
    7. Other activities necessary for the success of the organization's objectives
  2. Society members are free to contribute and participate in the above-mentioned activities when the Society performs any of the above items.

Section 2: Executive Secretary, Auditor, and International Scientific Committee Members

(Officers and Number of Members)

Article 5:
  • The Society will place the following officers:
  1. No less than 5 but no more than 10 Secretaries (1 Secretary General, 2 Deputy Secretary-Generals can also be placed)
  2. 1 Auditor
  3. More than 10 International Scientific Committee Members (one Chairman, one Deputy Chairman)
Article 6:
  • Election of Officers
  1. The Executive Secretary and Auditor shall be elected by caucus of the members of INFOM.
  2. The International Scientific Committee Members shall at first be appointed by the Board of Directors, and subsequently, the International Scientific Committee Members will be elected by the International Scientific Convention.
  3. The International Scientific Committee Chief and Deputy Chief will be elected by members of the council.
Article 7:
  • Divisional Duties
  1. The Executive Secretary will be charged with managing web and international activities, events involving other academic groups, and any other activities deemed necessary to achieve the objectives of the Society.
  2. The Secretary General will be charged with representing the Society and managing its affairs.
Article 8:
  • Auditing Duties
    The Auditor will monitor and administer operations and accounting.
Article 9:
  • Terms of Secretaries, Auditor, and International Scientific Committee Members
  1. Terms for Secretaries and the Auditor will be three years, and they can be re-appointed.
  2. International Scientific Committee Members can be re-elected until the conclusion of the International Scientific Convention in the fifth year after their term.
  3. A substitute Secretary shall be appointed to replace secretaries who resign before their term expires, or if the number of secretaries increases, their term shall be equivalent to the remaining time in their predecessor's or other's terms.
  4. The term of a substitute Auditor shall be equivalent to the remaining time in the previous Auditor's term.
  5. If a Secretary or Auditor creates a vacancy by their resignation or retiring, they must continue to perform their duties until a successor can be placed.
  6. If an International Scientific Committee Member creates a vacancy by their resignation or retiring, they must continue to perform their duties until a successor can be placed.

Section 3: Members

(Categories and Admission)

Article 10:
  • The Society shall be composed of members of the following categories:
  1. Full Members
  2. Group Members
  3. Honorary Members
  4. Special Members
  5. Associate Members
  6. Student Members
  7. Web Members
  • Additional details are laid out in the Society By-Laws.
Article 11:

Membership fees

The full membership fees are 6000 Japanese Yen for full members. The membership fees would be paid to INFOM using a credit card via www.infom.org.

Section 4: Chapter of INFOM

Article 12:

The International Society of Nature and Forest Medicine (www.infom.org) is based in Japan and the headquarters of INFOM are in Tokyo. The members in North American, Europe and other countries can establish a local chapter.

Membership dues would be paid directly to INFOM using a credit card via www.infom.org. Individuals would be listed on the INFOM website and the local website as chapter members.
