JAPAN : SHISO HYOGO

The very first Forest Therapy Base certified in Hyogo Prefecture! The Grand Opening is scheduled for Saturday 25th June, 2016.

Shiso City's Forest Therapy Base is located in the mid-western part of Hyogo Prefecture and extends 32 km in an east-west direction and approximately 42 km in a north-south direction, covering a total area of 658.6 square km, which represents 7.8 percent of the total area of Hyogo Prefecture. Approximately 90 percent of the Therapy Base area is forest.

The people of Shiso City have always lived in harmony with the surrounding forest.
The City is situated within a 2-hour drive from the Kobe and Osaka area, with two major highways intersecting in the center of the City, National Highway 29 and the Chugoku Expressway, which connects the Chugoku region to Keihanshin.

Within the City itself, the beautiful scenery is spectacular as it changes from season to season. The area also has plenty of natural resources. For example, the River Ibo which is a top-ranked (class A) clear river representing Hyogo Prefecture and the Ravines of Fukuchi, Akasai and Onzui are all known for their beautiful scenery. In addition, there is the Chikusa River, one of the 100 best waters in Japan, the Hara-Fudo Falls, one of the 100 best-selected Falls in Japan and the 1000 year-old wisteria tree which is also one of the 100 best fragrant sceneries in Japan and so on.

Surrounded by towering mountains with an elevation of over 1000 meters, such as Hyonsen, the highest peak in Hyogo Prefecture, the City is full of lush greenery as it is part of the Hyonosen-Ushiroyama-Nagisan Semi-National Park and the Onzui-Chikusa Prefectural Natural Park.
